Get up and go kayaking outside for fun

Kayaking is a great way to enjoy the outdoors while getting some exercise. It is also relatively easy to learn, and kayaks are available in a variety of sizes and styles to suit different budgets and preferences. In addition, kayaking can be a great way to explore new places and meet new people.

If you're thinking about kayaking, there are a few things you should keep in mind. First, make sure to dress for the weather and wear sunscreen, even on cloudy days. Second, it's important to choose the right kayak for your size and skill level. Third, be sure to follow all safety guidelines when kayaking. Fourth, be prepared for some bumps and scrapes along the way- kayaking can be a bit of an adventure!

My first time on a kayak, I don't swim

I know how to float and I'm not completely clueless in the water, but my first time kayaking was definitely outside of my comfort zone. But that's what makes it fun, right? Pushing yourself to try new things and have new experiences?

I was mostly afraid to tip over as I am not confident in my swimming skills, but my friend who kayaks regularly assured me that it was very unlikely to happen. And even if it did, she would be there to help me.

So I decided to go for it, and I'm so glad I did! The kayaking was much easier than I thought it would be and it was such a beautiful day out on the water. Since then, I've been kayaking regularly and even looking to learn another water activity such as standup paddle boarding as I enjoy fun things to do outside.

Still water versus current

Kayaking on still water is a very different experience than kayaking on a river with a current. Here are some of the key differences:

- On still water, you can take your time and enjoy the scenery. There is no need to hurry or paddle hard.

- River kayaking requires more effort, as you need to paddle against or with the current. This can be tiring, but it's also exhilarating.

- The scenery changes constantly when you're kayaking on a river. There are always new things to see around the next bend.

- Stillwater kayaking is usually more peaceful and calming. There is often less wildlife activity on rivers, as the animals are constantly moving around looking for food.

If you are a beginner, avoid rushing rapids or rivers with current and opt for creeks or lakes instead. Once you have more experience, you can tackle rivers with confidence. No matter which type of kayaking you choose, always be sure to wear a life jacket and follow all safety guidelines.

Types of kayaks for fun outdoor activities

Kayaks are either sit-on-tops or sit-ins. each has its own set of advantages and disadvantages that kayakers should be aware of before choosing a kayak.

Sit-on-top kayaks are the most popular type of kayak on the market today. they offer kayakers a number of advantages, including easy accessibility, comfortable seating, and great maneuverability. however, sit-on-top kayaks also have some disadvantages, such as being more susceptible to capsizing in rough waters and having less storage space than sit-in kayaks.

Sit-in kayaks offer kayakers a number of advantages over sit-on-top kayaks, including greater stability in rough waters and more storage space. However, sit-in kayaks also have some disadvantages, such as being more difficult to get in and out of and having less maneuverability than sit-on-top kayaks.

So, which type of kayak is right for you? That depends on a number of factors, including your preferred kayaking environment and your personal preferences. If you're just getting started in kayaking, I recommend renting both types of kayaks to see which one you prefer. And if you're an experienced kayaker, feel free to choose whichever type of kayak you prefer. Just be sure to take all the factors into consideration before making your final decision.
