Natural 4c hair care and knotless braids
So today is the day I wash my hair and I already know it's going to take all day long. My hair is nappy and kinky, but that doesn't stop me from loving every twist and turn of it. It's part of my identity and I wouldn't have it any other way!
That being said, African hair care can be difficult to manage without the right products. Natural afro hair needs lots of hydration and nourishment to stay healthy. Luckily, there are plenty of holistic and natural hair care solutions that can help give your naps the love they need to stay soft and strong.
Natural hair care day with African Pride
African Pride sent me a care kit and I'm trying their product today. The first thing I tried out of the box was the Pre-Shampoo. I don't usually pre-poo my hair before shampooing but it was highly recommended so gave it a try! Next, I tried the African Pride Honey Shampoo. Guys, I love honey in hair care products so I was super excited about this. The shampoo was a bit drying but my hair and scalp felt clean and clear. Also, their conditioner gave me the same feeling as the shampoo; Not as moisturizing as I like my conditioners to be. However, I felt better after opening the African Pride leave-in cream. That one is the real show-stopper. It smells amazing and left my naps feeling soft and moisturized!
After the long hair wash day routine, it was time to think about a protective style. Protective styles help keep your hair healthy and give you room to experiment with different looks. I love braids but I have a history of thinning edges.
Are knotless braids good for edge hair growth? Let's talk about it
Have you ever noticed that your edges are left thin and brittle after taking out traditional braids? Tis is because conventional braids pull and stress the delicate hairline. But knotless braids offer a solution to this issue. Knotless braids use less tension, allowing for edge hair growth and protection. Not only do knotless braids help with edges hair growth, but they also offer versatility in styling options. Medium to large knotless braids creates a natural and elegant look while being gentle on afro-textured hair.
Why do black women love knotless braids?
For starters, knotless braids can last for weeks and even months without needing to be redone. They also require less maintenance compared to traditional braids, making them a low-manipulation protective style.
For the culture
Protective styles, like knotless braids, have been used for centuries by African women to protect their hair and maintain healthy growth.
Protective
Knotless braids help protect the hair from external damage, such as heat and manipulation. This allows for healthy hair growth and retention.
Easy to style
Knotless braids allow for a range of styling options, from half-up-half-down looks to buns and ponytails. Plus, knotless braids can last two to three times longer than traditional braids.
Low maintenance
Knotless braids are low-maintenance and can last for weeks or even months with proper care and moisturization.
Small knotless braids offer a trendy, edgy style while still protecting the hair. Additionally, not only do they protect and promote edge hair growth, but they also provide the opportunity to experiment with different hairstyles without putting stress on our hair.
With black women awakening to appreciate their natural hair health and texture, the focus on proper style techniques became more important. Knotless braids offer a solution for healthy hair growth, protection, and versatility in styling options.
Other types of single braids hairstyles
Senegalese twist and loc styles can also be done knotless for added hair protection and edge growth. When braided using the traditional method, they have a history of causing a receding hairline.
All in all, taking care of coily hair is an intense endeavor. After a robust yet gentle and moisturizing hair wash routine, a protective style like knotless braids can help promote edge hair growth and retention. Plus, braids are a great way to protect hair from external damage and manipulation.
Happy hair journey! :)
